DDOS PROTECTION
What is a DDoS attack?
A denial-of-service attack (Denial of Service or DoS), also known as an overload attack, and distributed denial-of-service attack (Distributed Denial of Service, DDoS) is the complete or partial paralysis of an IT service, or deviation from its correct operational mode.
A denial-of-service attack attacks known weaknesses of a specific application or operating system, or some special protocol properties (weaknesses). Its goal is to prevent users authorized to access the application or system from accessing important information, the computer system, or even the computer network. As a result of the attack, the system slows down significantly, becomes inaccessible, or may even collapse. The essence is to prevent access to the target machine if possible.
Who can be targeted?
DDoS attacks have become the most common internet attack tool today. A successfully executed attack can cause serious revenue and prestige loss for the victim company, so it is definitely worth taking preventive measures and developing an action plan for successful defense.
Game servers, TeamSpeak servers, VPSs, Webshops, government and financial organizations, media and logistics companies, hotels, but almost all medium and large enterprises can be at risk.
How to defend against it?
To defend against a DDoS attack, on one hand we need to be able to identify in time if our service is under unrealistically high, artificially generated load, and on the other hand we need to be able to deflect this traffic in some way.
A company usually gets into a difficult situation if it tries to solve this problem on its own. The increased traffic targeting its service will inevitably consume a significant and ever-growing part or even the entirety of the available bandwidth. In such a situation, it is extremely difficult to take action and manage the system.
Therefore, it is advisable to entrust DDoS attack protection to the service provider, where 24/7 monitoring systems detect the danger earlier and can redirect the extra traffic in another direction before it reaches the customer's system. In the case of HostingBazis, for example, data traffic cleaning is provided by a virtual filter, thanks to which individual companies' bandwidth does not decrease during the attack.
All our company's services are automatically under protection.
